Why we're pushing so hard

Posted on 04 July 2017

The Push-Up 4 Support Challenge is for everyone - women and men, young and old. Join breast cancer survivor, and BMBTS spokeswoman, Kaia Høidalen as she promotes breast cancer awareness.

The challenge is created to show importance of awareness about how to prevent, get breast exams and to support diagnosed women to push themselves up before, during and after treatment.

To be part of the Push-Up 4 Support Challenge, participants have three options.

1. Do "Blonde Push-ups" which is simply wearing a push-up bra on the outside. Simple, yes?

2. (Optional) Do traditional push-ups.

3. Do both together (what could be better than that?)

4. Alternative: Invent your own way of doing pushup to show support - anything is appreciated!

Try to do as many as you can, and post a photo or a video of yourself with the hashtag #PushUp4SupportChallenge.
Then, ask five or more of your friends to do the same or donate money to a breast cancer charity. We have even set up our own charity to help uninsured women get mammograms.

“I am so proud to work with my friend and the inspiration behind this campaign, Kaia Høidalen,” said Lise Ellingsen, founder and designer of Blondes Make Better T-Shirts. “We want the blonde humor reflected through the Push-Up 4 Support Challenge to make people smile, increase the awareness of breast cancer groups, and support those with breast cancer.”

This project is made to express humor and a love of life. And we are doing everything we can to make women refocus on themselves. Humor helps people cope with difficult topics and we believe we are in a unique position to make a difference. By combining our brand spirit and our passion for empowering women, we see this as an opportunity to activate women, create a social event and raise money for a cause that is near and dear to us all.

About Kaia

The last thing on Kaia Høidalen’s mind was breast cancer. She was in her mid-thirties, and like most young women, she thought she was invincible. She went for a routine exam and, even though a lump was found, she was told there was nothing to worry about – especially at her age. A few months later, she was correctly diagnosed, but could have been in a better place if she was properly informed the first time.

Knowing she wasn't the first woman (or the last) to be misinformed, she decided to make it her mission to help educate women of all ages. Now she spends much of her time encouraging women to get involved with their own health. Her programs help women discover what to look for and how to test themselves regularly. The Push-Up 4 Support Challenge is her latest endever to spread the word and to get people activated.

Together with Lise Ellingsen, and the entire Blondes Make Better T-Shirts (BMBT) team, we are working hard to raise money and awareness about early detection.
